Back to School Without Losing Your Peace
There is something about August that feels like a fresh start.
The backpacks come out. Calendars begin to fill. School orientations, homework, practices, meetings, meal planning, and after-school activities suddenly become part of our daily rhythm again.
For some moms, this season brings relief.
For others, it feels like another layer of responsibility being added to an already full plate.
I've experienced both.
One thing I've learned is this:
Peace isn't found in having less to do. Peace is found in knowing how to steward what God has entrusted to us.
Busyness doesn't have to become our identity simply because the calendar gets full.
As women, we often believe that everyone else's needs must come before our own. We fill everyone else's cup while quietly running on empty ourselves. But eventually, exhaustion catches up with us.
God never called us to pour from an empty cup.
He invites us to come to Him first.
As you settle into new routines this month, don't just ask,
"How am I going to fit everything in?"
Instead ask,
"What routines will help me stay connected to the One who gives me peace?"
Before filling your family's schedule, make sure you're protecting time to fill your own heart.
Your quiet time.
Your prayer life.
Your rest.
Your moments of stillness.
Because when your cup is full, you're able to lead your family from a place of peace instead of pressure.
This school year doesn't have to begin with overwhelm.
It can begin with intention.
Let's choose peace together.
With love,
Dr. Shacara "Cara" Curry
Scripture to Stand On
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
Jesus never promised a life without responsibilities.
He promised rest for those who choose to bring those responsibilities to Him.
This month, let this verse be your reminder that His presence is more important than your productivity.

Destiny Decision of the Month
Protect your peace before protecting your schedule.
Before saying yes to another commitment, ask yourself:
"Will this help me fulfill the assignment God has given me, or is it simply adding more noise?"
Every yes should align with your priorities—not just your availability.
Peace grows when our decisions reflect our purpose.
Journal Prompt
Take a few quiet minutes this week and reflect on these questions:
- What part of this new school season feels the most overwhelming?
- Which daily routine helps you stay connected to God?
- Where do you need to create more margin instead of adding more?
- What is one thing you can remove from your schedule to make room for peace?
Remember:
You don't need more hours in the day. You need more intentionality with the hours you've been given.
Coming Next Month
September is all about creating sustainable rhythms.
We'll talk about how to build routines that don't just help you survive busy seasons—but help you thrive while staying aligned with God's purpose.
You'll also find practical tools for creating healthy boundaries, simplifying your schedule, and protecting your peace long after the excitement of a new school year fades.
Your Assignment
This week, spend 20 minutes creating your Peace-First Routine.
Before planning everyone else's schedule, schedule these first:
âś“ Time with God
âś“ Prayer
âś“ Rest
âś“ Movement
âś“ One activity that fills your cup
Everything else gets planned around these priorities—not the other way around.
Remember:
You don't have to earn peace.
Jesus already offers it.
Your job is simply to choose it.
Have a beautiful month, and remember...
You can excel with peace.
