October: Decide Differently
Cara's Letter
Can I be honest with you?
Most of us aren't stuck because we don't know what to do. We're stuck because we already know—and something keeps us from moving.
We pray about it. We talk about it. We ask one friend, then two more. We wait for a sign, and then for a second sign to confirm the first one. And when we finally decide, fear, guilt, or one raised eyebrow sends us right back to the beginning.
If that's you right now, hear me: you're not behind, and you're not broken. You may just have more voices in the room than God ever invited.
All through September, we talked about sustainable rhythms. And one moment kept coming back to me. When Jesus was led into the wilderness, the very first thing the enemy said to Him was, "If you are the Son of God…" The enemy knew exactly who Jesus was. He wanted Jesus to question it—because if he could shake His identity, he could influence His decisions.
Jesus didn't take the bait. He knew who He was, so He had nothing to prove.
That's the bridge from September into October:
Your rhythm is built by your decisions. And your decisions are shaped by who you believe you are.
Here's what's been heavy on my heart this month. I can't move your mountain for you. Some days I wish I could. But I can remind you of what Jesus made very clear: you have been given authority to speak to it. He didn't tell His disciples to wait until the mountain felt smaller. He didn't tell them to find someone more qualified. He told them to have faith in God—and speak.
Your mountain might be a decision you've circled for months. A conversation you keep putting off. A yes you need to take back, or a no you need to finally say. A step of obedience that scares you.
This month, we stop circling the mountain and start speaking to it.
You don't need your whole life figured out. You need the next aligned decision—and the faith to walk it out.
Scripture to Stand On
"Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart." — Mark 11:22–23 NLT
Notice the order. Have faith in God comes first. The power to speak to your mountain doesn't come from your confidence, your readiness, or having every answer. It comes from knowing who God is—and believing who He says you are.
And when fear shows up (it will), remember 2 Timothy 1:7: God didn't give you a spirit of fear. He gave you power, love, and self-discipline. Fear may be in the room when you decide. It just doesn't get the final word.
Last Month on Mindset PUSH
September was all about Sustainable Rhythms—because peace isn't created by squeezing more into your schedule. It's created by deciding what belongs there in the first place.
Busy doesn't Mean Balanced: How to Build a Rhythm of Peace A calendar can be perfectly organized and still leave you empty. We separated a schedule from a rhythm—one that makes room for God, restoration, your responsibilities, and the life you're actually called to live.
How to Simplify a Busy Schedule by Aligning With God's Priorities You may not need more time—you may need clarity about what deserves the time you have. One line from this episode I keep coming back to: something good in the wrong season is still misalignment.
How to Say No Without Guilt | Set Healthy Boundaries & Protect Your Peace We looked at Jesus in the wilderness and Eve in the garden—two moments where identity shaped a decision. Some of our yeses are really attempts to prove something God never asked us to prove. When someone doesn't receive your God-aligned decision? Let your peace return to you, and shake the dust off your feet.
How to Stop Doing It All and Build a Rhythm That Works We built your rhythm in layers, straight from Psalm 23: God first, then you, then the assignment He's placed in your hands—and only then everything else. (And if your kids also wake up at 5 a.m. every time you plan to rise early… sis, I see you. That influencer's routine may not be your rhythm, and that's okay.)
So how in the world are you supposed to do it all? Maybe you're not. You're supposed to faithfully steward what God has placed in your hands.
If you missed an episode, catch up this month—September laid the foundation for everything we're building in October.

This Month on the Podcast
Each week in October, we're answering one question I hear from women all the time:
1: Why can't I just decide? Overthinking, fear of getting it wrong, and waiting for a sign. Sometimes fear makes indecision feel like wisdom.
2: What's actually influencing my decisions? People-pleasing, expectations, comparison, emotions, and the need to prove yourself. If someone else's disappointment can change your decision, their approval may have more authority in your life than you realize.
3: What does who I am have to do with how I decide? Identity in Christ, confidence, and learning to hear God's voice over the noise.
4: Are you waiting on God—or waiting until you're not afraid? You may not be stuck because you don't know what to do. You may be stuck because you're waiting for confidence to show up before obedience.
Your Tool for the Month: The Mountain Check
When a decision is taking up too much space in your head, give it five minutes and a piece of paper.
- What do I know to be true? Write the facts—not the fears, not the what-ifs, not the scenarios you've played out at 2 a.m.
- Who's in the room? Name every voice influencing this decision: fear, guilt, someone's expectations, comparison, your emotions, the need to prove yourself. Circle the ones God didn't invite.
- Is this mine—and is it now? Something can be good and still not be for this season.
- What would I decide if fear weren't in charge?
- What is my one next step, and when will I take it?
Then speak to it. Say your decision out loud. Pray over it. Take the step.
Destiny Decision of the Month
I will no longer let fear, pressure, or other people's opinions make my decisions for me. I will decide from who God says I am—and I will take the next step in faith instead of putting it off until I feel ready.
You don't need to fix everything this month. Choose one decision you've been avoiding, delaying, or second-guessing, and start there.
Journal Prompt
Is there something I've been calling "waiting on God" that might actually be waiting until I'm not afraid?
Then write:
If I fully believed what God says about me, what would I do this week?
Don't try to solve the next six months. Find the next faithful step.
Something Special Is Coming: Destiny Decisions
Have you ever known you were created for more but found yourself stuck between knowing and doing?
That's exactly why I wrote my next book, Destiny Decisions—and presale opens this month.
This book is for the woman who is tired of overthinking, second-guessing, and letting the noise decide for her. We'll talk about the things that quietly influence our choices—fear, approval, emotions, other people's opinions, our past, the need to prove ourselves, and waiting until we feel ready. More importantly, we'll talk about how to take back the authority you've handed them.
Because your destiny isn't shaped by one giant decision. It's shaped by the decisions you make again and again about who you believe you are, which voices you'll listen to, and whether you'll move when God says go.
As you listen this month, you'll start to hear why this book had to be written. Watch your inbox for presale details: Presale link COMING SOON!
Coming Next Month
In November, Destiny Decisions officially releases—and we're moving from decision to action.
Because making a Destiny Decision is powerful, but eventually you have to walk out what you decided. We'll talk about following through when the excitement wears off, staying aligned when circumstances haven't changed yet, recognizing your growth, and continuing forward without needing everything to happen overnight.
One faithful step at a time.
Your Assignment
Pick your mountain. Run it through the Mountain Check. Then take your one next step this week.
I want to hear about it. Hit reply and tell me what mountain you're speaking to this month—I read every response, and I'd love to pray for you by name. We are doers, not just hearers.
You don't have to see the whole path to take the next step.
Make the decision. Take the step. Keep living on assignment.
With love, Cara
Excel with peace. Live on assignment.
